Spending a couple of days in Avila Beach If you are looking for a few things to do in Avila Beach, I recommend spending a day in playing in the sand at Avila Beach, playing the Avila Bay Golf Course, spending a late afternoon at the Avila Barn, enjoying an evening soaking in a hot tub at Sycamore Hot Springs and enjoying a meal at the Old Port Inn restaurant. Avila Beach is one of the perfect micro climates on the central coast of California. The coastal desert has a marine layer that keeps it cool to about 11 am which makes it perfect for early morning golf, running, or working out. Then it warms up in the afternoon so laying out on the beach is comfortable, and then begins to cool off during the evening as the coastal breeze picks up. The town of Avila Beach has undergone a major facelift and is now an inviting place for tourists. I just wish they had a gas station. That's right. If you run out of gas, you have to go to San Luis Obispo or Shell Beach to find the nearest gas station. Other than that, its a funky beach town that is great for families or a romantic getaway.
